Dance Performance Promo Materials
2023 – In preparation for the PPSC Dance Department’s spring showcase, the show’s print promotional materials required a visual refresh to be more appealing to potential audience members and align with new PPSC brand guidelines. Pikes Peak State College went through a rebranding the previous year as it changed from a community college to a state college.
The concept materials were designed using images and event information from the fall 2022 showcase, but the final designs use the spring 2023 showcase information. Peter Strand photographed the 2022 showcase, and company dancers and instructors photographed class sessions.

Pikes Peak State College Institutional Colors
The new PPSC color palette shifts away from red, earthy tones to a more vibrant and varied selection. According to the PPSC Marketing office, “The expanded colors reflect the diversity and high energy of our students, faculty, and staff.” Additionally, since PPSC has many areas of study, each academic pathway has two unique colors assigned to them to create a “coding system that will make it easy for students to keep track of the pathway they’re interested in.” The dance promo materials heavily rely on the pathway colors for their eye-catching, vivid nature and association with the Arts & Humanities. The full-color dance department logo is also used to reinforce this event’s association with PPSC and the dance program.
Pikes Peak State College Typography
The PPSC brand has 4 fonts: the main/body copy font, FreightSans Pro; and 3 display/headline fonts, Bodoni Egyptian Pro, Sackers Gothic, and FreightSans Condensed. Sackers Gothic is only available as an individual license purchase; the other ones are available with an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Freight Sans and Bodoni Egyptian were the primary typefaces used in the dance promo materials due to them coming in many weights and variations. The designs mix and match between these typefaces to create strong emphasis and visual interest without creating confusion and disharmony.
