Academic Conference Site [in progress]

2023 – In 2022, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation selected Colorado College as a Humanities for All Times grant recipient to address social justice, diversity, and humanities engagement in higher education. As part of this grant, Colorado College is hosting a summer conference to “[bring] together educators, artists, and activists to engage these questions and consider the relationship between humanities methods and social justice today.” The project directors for this program wanted a separate website for this conference that wasn’t part of the main Colorado College site, hence the creation of this ongoing project.

The CC Humanities for Our Times site utilizes the main CC brand colors and typography to ensure visitors still know that this conference is CC-related. The site is designed for a relatively academic target audience, meaning the content is very text-heavy. This necessitated clear site information architecture, page hierarchy, and plenty of white space to ensure readability and a seamless user experience.

Additional features added to maintain site visitor interest include animations for page elements, scrolling transitions, dynamic shapes and lines, a sticky header with clear calls to action, and zigzagging media.
