New Website Design Mockup and Proposal
2022 – The Business Resource Network (BRN) acts as a “dating app” that matches aspiring entrepreneurs with local mentors and allows these people to collaborate within an online space. The BRN’s goal is to empower and remove barriers from Pikes Peak State College students, faculty, and staff who are looking to start their own businesses, grow their existing businesses, or engage in project-based learning.
The client, Warren Munick, professor of entrepreneurship at PPSC and founder of the BRN, envisions this online platform to act similarly to BetterUp, an online professional development service. Primarily, the client wanted the user experience of people interested in the BRN to be simple and engaging. The biggest design challenge was to create an engaging, simple form that site users will actually finish, but also robust enough so there’s enough information provided for an accurate match between mentor and mentee.
Landing Page
The main focus of the BRN homepage emphasizes the driving mission of this entrepreneurial network: “Why wait until you graduate? Start now!” Site visitors are presented with two options depending on whether they want to join the BRN as a business mentor or are seeking business mentorship.
The rest of the homepage below the fold is filled with welcoming icons and short text descriptions to maintain the interest of the site user. There is also space for testimonials. Word of mouth is very important in networking, so I designed a dedicated space for a digital version of that. I also made a point to include images of people from all different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to ensure the BRN felt welcoming to everyone with entrepreneurial goals, even if they don’t look like your typical entrepreneur.
