Site Redesign, External Communications, Web Author Training, and User Experience

2022 – The Colorado College Physics department site desperately needed a visual redesign on the front end and reorganization on the back end with all the mismanaged site assets. In order for the site to have a more appealing and professional effect on prospective majors, I created clear calls to action, simplified page structures, reduced heavy academic language, addressed accessibility violations, and increased visual media content. Using clean and simple page structures meant that maintaining/updating webpage content was easier, faster, and more likely to stay consistent with the rest of the site design and overall Colorado College brand.

The CC Communications & Marketing web team used the Physics homepage as a prototype as we designed a homepage template for all academic departments. Additionally, I worked with the Physics department to create a content creation strategy that they’d be capable of maintaining. This would keep the site fresh, but prevent the site from growing out of control or out-of-date.
